Plainly someone with a particular interest in the Midas rule being a thing likes to make up stuff about it being like science. Well sure - inanimate abstract concepts don't care, so in that sense, sure, describe it how you like. But just for the record... it ain't a thing. And Midas... the moral of /his/ story was that he didn't get to control the things he wanted to.
Fair enough. But to make this abstract concept tangible, it was a phrase I invented to tell people, "yes you can work on the Component Synchronizer in the PowerTools project."
And from that sense and when working with me on (open source or similar) projects, I'll often defer those that get started first or care enough to work on some piece of work (especially if it doesn't need group buy-in).
Fix a bug, try something, or document something that needs to be clearer? Go for it, whether you use my catchy phrase or not.
